About Me

Matveï Pavlov

Hi, I'm Matveï.

This is my personal site. It's a place for me to showcase what I'm working on and a way for people to get in touch.

I'm one of those people whose "job" and "hobby" are basically the same thing. I just really like to build stuff. My interests are... broad. If it involves code, I've probably tried to break it, automate it, or build a GUI for it.

What I Love To Build

When I'm not at work, I'm... still coding. My main tools are Python and C#. I'm a big believer in open-source, not just as a "philosophy," but because it's a giant, public sandbox to learn and share.

My main interests are:

  • Web Scraping: I do a lot of this. Seriously. If it's on the web, I'll find a way to get it.
  • Bots & Automation: Automating games, tasks, whatever. Less clicking is good.
  • Bugs & Exploits: I love finding out why something breaks. Or how to break it. It's the best way to learn how things *really* work.
  • All-Stack Dev: Web, GUI, backend, random scripts. I like building the whole thing, start to finish.

You can see the results of this on my GitHub.

My Journey

My path here wasn't just a straight line. I started with a Baccalauréat Général S in 2016. From there, I studied at the Université Grenoble Alpes, where I earned both a Licence Informatique (2019) and a Licence MIASHS (Mathématiques et Informatique Appliquées aux Sciences Humaines et Sociales) in 2022.

I immediately continued into a Master's degree in Computer Science at UGA. My first year (M1) was fantastic, genuinely the best school year of my life. I loved every single project and spent the entire year immersed in code.

My M2 year was my internship at Microlight 3D, which was a trial by fire. I was tasked with integrating 3D printing capabilities into a legacy 2D layer-by-layer software. Due to team changes, I found myself as the sole developer on this project for a period. It was tough, and the project (a true legacy mess) was eventually abandoned, but the experience of navigating that challenge was invaluable.

I'm still at Microlight 3D today, but in a much better role. A new lead dev has joined who guides the workflow, which allows me to focus 100% on what I do best: building entire custom internal tools from the ground up, mostly in C# and the .NET stack.

Not *Just* Code

It's not all screens and text, though. I'm fascinated by physical and visual media. I get my hands dirty with:

  • Custom Printing: Posters, mtg proxies, stickers, if it's printable, I will try and make it perfect.
  • Photography: Mostly macro shots of insects, nature, and timelapses.
  • General Art Stuff: Painting, scrap-booking, drawing. I like to make stuff. It's ugly most of the time, but I'm having a blast.

I'm hoping to get a gallery up here soon to show some of that off.

On a more personal note, I'm getting pacs'd soon with my soon-to-be wife, which I'm incredibly happy about.
